We Think Sigma Omicron Pi Can
Support Sigma Omicron Pi's "For the Love of a Sandwich" while helping homeless youth
Goal
For every $50 that our sorority, Sigma Omicron Pi, raises, we will make a week's worth of sandwiches for the homeless youth of At The Crossroads. We will make 50 sandwiches each week! We're thinking of making ham and cheese sandwiches, but if you have suggestions, please let us know! All 19 of us will do our part in acquiring the basic materials (bread, meat, cheese, etc.), creating the sandwich, and preparing the sandwich to be taken out onto the streets. If we raise $200, we will make these sandwiches for four weeks; $400 for eight weeks, and so on.
PLEASE NOTE: If you donate, your donation goes 100% to supporting ATC. We will not use the money to pay for the supplies needed because SOPi will have that covered. The donation is just your way of expressing solidarity with us and supporting a good cause.
I chose this goal because
Being residents of San Francisco, we feel that we have an obligation to make our city as strong as possible. Being members of our sorority, we want to find an activity that we can do together to help the community. This is a perfect opportunity to do both. We are fortunate enough to not have to worry about where our next meal is coming from, and we want to help others to have that same basic privilege. Currently, the only sandwiches ATC can afford to bring out on outreach are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Although peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are substantial, we believe that everyone deserves some options and diversity. While it might seem like a small gesture, we believe that giving ATC's clients different food options is important. Clients will get the impression that ATC cares by providing a variety of options instead of just one simple recipe. These are ideas that are fundamental to ATC.
I'm helping because
The mission of ATC hits close to home, both literally and figuratively. Many of the clients ATC works with are the same age as us! Not everyone is dealt a fair hand in life, and we realize that we are fortunate enough to have this opportunity to give back. We have volunteered for ATC, and we think they do amazing, much-needed work.
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
