Write, write, write! I studied writing in college; it is hard to continue alone. Maybe you need writing buddies! Good luck :)

Keep the pages coming, I'm anxious for the manuscript.

Goal

I am going to *keep* writing the book I started several years ago. You know, the one I quit my job for and then proceeded to get completely busy with other things. The one about the post apocalyptic world, the elves and a little girl named Eva. Yeah, that one.

For every $20 that you donate to my cause, I promise to write four pages toward my book. So, if I reach my modest goal of $400 then I will have written 80 pages. After some fancy editing and such, that is probably a nice little chapter in my book. How cool is that.

I chose this goal because

I have NOT taken myself seriously as a writer, for, oh, my whole life, and it is time, with your help, to begin to change that. I am in a position now, more so then several years ago, to really and truly sit on my ass and write and to actually see some progress. The only problem, I have so little time, cause I am working hard to help raise funds for ATC. So the more you help ATC, the more you help me realize my goal.

I'm helping because

I am helping because the world is a better place when we are all working towards reaching our goals. ATC works to help youth on the streets realize that they can be anything they want to be. We should all get to write many chapters in our own life stories.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.

Updates

Seems, as with all things, that they change and morph. I have not written a single word on my book. While my intention is to get these pages written this year, I have decided to give myself a little break, so that I can concentrate on staying healthy, and preparing for my ordination this summer, which is no small feat. I will keep you all updated on my progress, and see what comes up. Trust, trust, trust.

I have, as my friend Padmatara would say, been doing a crap job. A crap job at writing, that is. Everything else is going okay, really.

But, I got this quote, also from aformentioned friend, which I think is apropos:

"We practically define the term talent by an ordinary person’s inability to have it. Everyone has a longing to create. That longing is itself the essence of creativity. Only our fear of an imperfect or unacceptable outcome makes our ideas seem shallow and small and unworthy."

Day three. I have received another donation from my lovely friend Karunadakini. THANK YOU! This means I must write 4.5 more pages, which I will do this weekend. You betcha.

The pressure is on, though. Cause it seems like people actually want to read it...oh dear.

great idea, Sarah. I salute your creativity and determination for both projects! (ATC and the book, that is.) Try getting in touch with Sydney in Oakland if you do want a book buddy!

Day one. I received a donation from a stranger. If that is not testimony to the fact that this girl needs to get her shite together, well, then not much else is, barring any unforeseen illness.

So, in the spirit of I Think I Can, I went to the art supply store, purchased a new sketch book, and bought some pens. And wrote my two pages. Thanks Angela, you just may get the dedication if this thing ever sees the light of day...or your local independent bookstore.
