We Think San Francisco Friends School Can
Support San Francisco Friends School's Sock Drive while helping homeless youth
Goal
The staff and students at San Francisco Friends School Extended Day working to collect 1,000 pairs of socks to donate to At the Crossroads. To help motivate us, we are trying to raise one dollar for ATC for each pair of socks, for a total of $1,000.
I chose this goal because
Rob Gitlin from ATC came and spoke to us about the fact homeless youth often wear the same pair of socks around the clock for a week or more. He also said that the youth are glad to learn that kids care about their situation and want to help. By having a sock drive the students and teachers at SF Friends school are working for a more caring and just society.
I'm helping because
At the Crossroads is located across the street from the San Francisco Friends School. They do amazing work walking the streets nightly to lend an ear to homeless young adults, support their personal goals, and distribute supplies such as socks. We want to support this work and be part of this mission.
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
