We Think Risa Can
Support Faster than a speeding bullet... while helping homeless youth
Goal
To train for and run the Bay to Breakers (7.46 miles) in San Francisco on May 16, 2010. If I can raise the full $500, I will run the whole distance.
I chose this goal because
I chose this goal because the farthest I have ever run is 3.1 miles and I think it's time to up the anty! I moved to San Francisco last August and I am excited to participate in the epic Bay to Breakers. Seven and a half miles is a significant challenge. Basically, I could really use a little extra motivation to log those training miles on the days that my psyche would rather sleep late and eat pastry.
Did I mention that I'm a *little* out of shape? Because I'm a little out of shape. Don't let this worry you though, I am determined and my follow through is exemplary. Actually, if you donate to my worthy campaign I think I pretty much have to do this...
I'm helping because
I have been volunteering with At the Crossroads for the past few months. Each time I attend a supply prep night, a meet and greet or a fundraising event I am struck by the true committment and dedication that ATC devotes to their clients. ATC's mission statement is to "reach out to homeless youth and young adults at their point of need, and work with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives." It is clear to me that ATC provides much needed (and high quality) services to a population that would otherwise be in danger of falling through the cracks.
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
