Goal

1) Our apartment (Paul, Meryl, and Ryan) will make 10 healthy bagged meals (sandwich, chips, fruit, snack) and distribute them to homeless individuals in our area (Marina, Cow Hollow, Russian Hill, Pac Heights).

2) We will make these food runs a minimum of 5 times between February 1 and April 11 (10 weeks).

3) We will ask one question of the individuals we are providing with food: "Where are you from?" If they don’t want to answer it, that is totally fine with us. We don’t want them to feel like they have to give something in order to get something.

4) We will listen to the responses and learn about the homeless in our community.

5) After each run, we will blog about the experience and provide our supporters with insight into who the folks we pass on the street every day really are.

I chose this goal because

So many times, we pass homeless individuals on the streets without a thought to their backgrounds, families, passions, or experiences. We want to break out of the narrow view on their current situation and learn about their lives.

I'm helping because

Homelessness is a pervasive and recognizable issue in San Francisco. At The Crossroads is making a difference and changing lives for these homeless youth and young adults. If we have the power to contribute to that mission, we would be remiss to ignore it.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
