We Think They Can
Support Mission Cycling while helping homeless youth
Who is Mission Cycling
Mission Cycling is a neighborhood-based club devoted to the enjoyment of one of the world's purest, most classic sporting endeavors: Cycling. That sounds so official, doesn't it? Anyway. We're just trying to build a sense of community among our riders and sponsors through the shared experience of cycling. Our aim is simple: to enjoy the unique challenges and rewards offered by experiencing our unique city and nearby countryside from the saddle of a bike.
We're very excited to partner with At The Crossroads to create Spinning Spokes for Homeless Folks!
Goal
What's the point? Well, the goal is to get a bunch of people to ride as many miles as they can in September to raise money for homeless youth, and so you can fit into those skinny jeans again! This is a month-long event called "Spinning Spokes for Homeless Folks." I'm sure you have questions, so let's see if we can answer them. It's pretty simple.
1) Sign up and join this team.
2) Pick a goal for how many miles you want to ride in September and how much money you want to raise.
3) Get your friends and family to sponsor you. We've got some simple pre-written emails explaining the program and make this easier for you (even the lazy have no excuse!).
4) Ride your tail off in September. I should've used "ass" instead of "tail," but this is a charity event, so we'll keep it PG.
If you're a Strava user, you can add yourself to the Spinning Spokes event there and get your name on the miles leaderboard:http://app.strava.com/events/171
We're all much happier the more we bike, so let's raise some money for a great cause while pedaling. Humans participating in Spinning Spokes will be invited to the wrap party at the end of the month. We'll have a ton of beer and prizes. The more you raise the bigger your prize (it's kind of selfish of you to worry about what kind of prize you'll get). There might also be some break dancing. No promises though.
This event is open to everyone! I tend to overuse exclamation points!
Mission Cycling will help both members and non-members find people to ride with during this September event, so that people participating in Spinning Spokes will always have someone to keep them company.
I'm helping because
Mission Cycling has been involved with ATC for the past couple of years. We like the idea of supporting an organization in our own backyard that is working to make our community healthier and safer. ATC works with young people on the streets of the Mission that get overlooked, and that need all the help they can get. ATC helps these youth move beyond the streets, and build outstanding lives. We love what ATC does, and are excited to be part of something that is making the Mission community as strong as possible.
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
