We Think Michael Can
Support Michael's Campaign while helping homeless youth
Goal
My goal is to convince myself that I'm not too old yet by running the Santa Cruz Half Marathon in April!
I chose this goal because
I've been running off and on for 15 or so years now, and I've always wondered if I could actually do a half marathon (13.1 miles). I ran 11 miles once over ten years ago, but that was at a time when I didn't have a job or a wife and child!
One nice side benefit of this campaign for me personally is it has motivated me to get out of bed a few mornings each week to go running, really improving how good I feel during the week. And hopefully in April I'll get to experience that feeling of accomplishing something that always seemed too difficult to accomplish...
I'm helping because
I was introduced to ATC a few years ago through my law firm, and I realized right away what an incredibly significant contribution ATC makes to our community.
For those teens and young adults living on the streets among us who lack the support of a family -- ATC helps to provide that support. They provide to these kids things like a non-judgmental ear for them to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, food and other supplies to get through the night, a P.O. Box to give to a potential employer, and warm clothes. ATC's "I Think I Can" campaign enables those of us fortunate enough to take these things for granted a mechanism for giving back. In these difficult economic times, it will only get tougher for those at the "bottom" of the ladder such as the kids being helped by ATC.
Thank you so much for your support.
About At The Crossroads
ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
