Goal

We will return to our pre-pregnancy weights by losing 10 pounds, each.

I chose this goal because

Eve put on pregnancy weight, as is healthy and appropriate. Max put on pregnancy weight because he is such an empathetic (lazy?), supportive (sedentary?) husband. Miri is the best thing in our lives and is starting to get really active, and we would like to be able to run around with her without nearly passing out. Being busy at work and busy at home, it is not as easy to get in shape as it was when we were mushing dogs in the snow. So we could use a little support from all of you to help keep us motivated and accountable.

I'm helping because

For the past ten years, we have been donating to ATC and collecting hygiene items for them to give to their clients. Rob Gitin, a close friend, is the founder and director of ATC, and we have the utmost respect for the work that they do, and the way they go about doing it. They work with the kids that no one else wants to work with, and they do it with integrity and humanity.

In working at a hospital, I (Eve) see homeless folks every day, and am glad that there is an organization that is helping young people on the streets better their lives. In founding and working with charter schools, I (Max) try to make sure that none of our students end up as homeless teenagers, but I'm glad there is somewhere that cares for those who do fall through the cracks.

ATC has had to make cuts to its services in the past year, and we want to help them get back to full strength.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.
