Goal

In case you're not aware, I've been having trouble scoring lately :(.

Consequently, as a double-dip campaign, I'm going to score a goal for ATC on my soccer team for every $50 raised as well as volunteer 2 hours of office time with ATC.

All monies go straight to ATC. They could really use the help. Thanks!

I chose this goal because

In things more fun and frivolous, extrinsic motivation works well. Plus, it's great to think about all the wonderful people in my life who are behind me when I head to the office. especially on the occasional off day.

I'm helping because

ATC helps all those kids that we went to school with, the ones who lived next door, the ones we were close to as kids but grew apart from due to circumstance. We went our way, they headed to the streets, to juvenile hall, and down less fortunate paths than we due to circumstances beyond their control. Some grew up in violent or negligent family circumstances, others were abused, and some just plain unlucky.

These are the clients that ATC serves. ATC strives to get them back to stable living. It's impressive what some of ATC's clients have overcome. It's also amazing how, without a support system, the daily burdens of life can overcome a person.

About At The Crossroads

ATC walks the streets of San Francisco, reaching out to homeless youth and young adults on their turf. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. Since we started 13 years ago, we have worked with more than 5,000 youth, helping them build outstanding lives.

Last week was a good one. Four more goals in Monday's game. This week was also productive, as I slotted one last night.

My schedule has taken me away from logging hours. but it's only temporary.

This week was a productive one for scoring. I hit two off volleys with my right foot and another I slid past the keeper (again with the right).

I'm still reworking my volunteer schedule, so now new hours there.

Here are the totals:

Goals scored: 5

Hours volunteered: 4

Sunday was a bust (my team forfeited), but last night was better. I put one in with the left foot, then paid the price. It was worth it. though, for ATC and those kids!

Unfortunately, no volunteer hours this week due to an unexpected change in events. More updates forthcoming.

Thanks for all the support.

Today was a beautiful day, as I broke my dry spell. It should have been two, but after my shot was blocked, and blocked again, I had an opening but decided to bend it into the upper left corner instead of playing it simply on the ground.

The one I did put in was from a PK, but I'll take it :).

So my tally thus far is:

Goals scored: 1

Hours volunteered: 4

Tomorrow's another day, and another chance to score.

Thanks for helping out!

This weekend I bent one over the post (left foot from a corner), put one wide right (right foot), and sent one over the crossbar. Sadly, no goals this week, but I persist.

Two more hours for ATC, though!

Thanks for all the support!

I have yet to score, but look forward to the upcoming games. I was able to give two hours at ATC this week, though. Thanks for the support so far!
